Wood Class with Sammy Long
(ages 13 and up)

Beginning Woodturning

Award-winning woodturner and president of the Magnolia Woodturners,  Sammy Long will teach teens and adults the basics of woodturning. During the four-day class, you will learn about the equipment and tools used, about different kinds of wood and their various properties and suitability for different projects and the basic techniques of "turning" wood to create everything from beautiful wooden bowls to table legs. More advanced classes will be available later on for those who have completed this beginning class.

Blacksmith Class with Lyle Wynn (ages 13 and up)

Sign up now to take classes from a blacksmith superstar. Lyle Wynn, first runner-up on History Channel's Forged and Fire, will provide hands-on instruction for these two four-day sessions for ages 13 and up. Teens to adults will enjoy learning this age old art form that can be used to create a wide variety of metal objects from knives to jewelry. Lyle is a sought-after teacher and demonstrator around the country...so take advantage while you can.

Mosaics with Corley Marsalis

Love Lighthouses? Guild artist Corley Marsalis will guide you through making a mosaic wall hanging featuring a lighthouse and sea-theme while teaching you the techniques for making a variety of mosaics of your own design. You can choose to make the pictured piece or another lighthouse design, and you are invited to bring a piece of jewelry or other item to incorporate into your piece in this fun four-day class.

Introduction to Enameling with Dana Finimore

June 19th - 20th
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
$200+ material fee paid to instructor

Join artist and metalsmith, Dana Finimore, for a weekend of creative jewelry making. Learn to create stunning, handcrafted copper jewelry embellished with glass enamel. This class will be focused on enameling on copper demonstrating torch- fired techniques. Time during class will be balanced to allow for in-depth demonstrations of the techniques/methods being taught and plenty of time for students to actually work on the processes or projects.  This Intro to Enameling Workshop is a sampler of enameling procedures, techniques and materials.

Students will learn from group demonstrations, and one-on-one instruction, and use their new skills to create colorful earrings and pendants.

Stained Glass with Jenny Thomas

Create your own one-of-a-kind stained glass panel with glass artist Jenny Thomas. Over the 4-day workshop, you’ll learn about color selection, glass cutting and the timeless technique of Copper Foil. Jenny shares her knowledge and passion to inspire your inner artist and help you make your own beautiful works of glass.

Can't Find What You're Looking For?

 If you are interested in a class in any of the mediums listed on our website but one is not currently scheduled, please email us at mscraftcenter@gmail.com or give us a call at 601.856.7546 (ask for Sheri) to be notified when a class is available.

We also strongly urge you to fill out our Class Request Form. This form will notify us of interest in the different mediums and will aid us in our future scheduling. In some cases, if there is enough interest shown at a time, a class will be scheduled for the current class season due to high demand.
