Full Name: Yoshi Fujii
Date Joined: 2005
The design and function of Yoshi's work is influenced by his Japanese heritage. In Japan, especially among the high-class society in the old time, it was a luxury to alternate dinnerware according to the season. Yoshi is interested in the simplicity of forms and the tactile sensuality of the surface. Inspired by flora and fauna, traditional wood cut prints and textiles, wrapping papers, and even tattoos, Yoshi carves elegant surface decorations onto his dishware with a keen sense of craftsmanship. He earned his MFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and his BFA from the University of Southern Mississippi.
